Even in the depths of Tiger Woods’ sex-capade troubles, Nike declined to distance itself from his shredded image.
Now that he’s No. 1 in golf again, the shoe giant is ready to crow, and it’s not going to let a little thing like taste get in the way. A congratulatory ad resurrecting the Woods quote “Winning takes care of everything” has haters abuzz that Team Tiger is using success to excuse sleazoid behavior. “Nike being Nike,” is what one consultant calls it, while a company spokesman explained it as merely a “salute to his athletic performance.” Maybe they used it because “get your finger out of your ass,” Tiger’s tweet to Rory McIlroy, didn’t fit the picture.
